Students and local volunteers of all ages work in the garden regularly. The work depends on the weather and season. Everyone shares in propagating plants in the polytunnel or in the beds outside. This involves watering, weeding, dead-heading, planting etc. We grow a mixture of flowers, herbs and vegetables in an organic way.
No gardening skills or equipment required
Fitness Level Required:
The work to be done varies, therefore there may be more or less fitness required depending on the task. There is nothing strenuous to be done on a regular basis
What to Wear and Bring:
Volunteers should wear usual outdoor wear which is suitable for the weather. Boots may also be a good idea.
Metal gardening tools can be sharp therefore boots and gloves should be worn for many jobs
Frequency of Sessions:
Sessions take place every Friday
Duration of Each Session:
The duration of each session is flexible, between 3pm-6pm depending on the weather
We are a group of students and volunteers of all ages, from nursery to retirement age. New volunteers could tell us in their own words why they want to join. The LAGS Facebook site shows what we usually do and who we are.
