Parkride volunteer

Parkride is looking for anyone interested in volunteering, to support the Parkride staff in delivering their regular sessions. As a Fun, Free & Flexible inclusive family cycling project, Parkride reaches children with Special Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND), along with their families, from all across Birmingham and beyond. The project provides participants with the opportunity to access the great outdoors through cycling together in Sutton Park

You can gain experience working with people of all ages and abilities, whilst encouraging active lifestyles enjoyed by all family members.

With free access to adapted bikes and mainstream bikes for anyone to join in with, these sessions provide the opportunity for the whole family to join in and enjoy the great outdoors together. Regardless of need or age, people can take part in led rides and fun activities, meet new friends or come and have a go at times that suit them and their families.

Whether you are looking to do once a week or three times a week, Parkride have sessions running every week (weather permitting).

Sessions run:

Wednesday – 1pm-3pm and 4pm-6pm

Thursday – 1pm-3pm

Saturday – 9:30am-12pm

Your role would include:

  • Supporting children and adults with learning disabilities (including people who have complex needs) and their families to take part in regular community bike rides around Sutton Park;
  • Helping to set up beforehand and tidy away afterwards;
  • Assisting Midland Mencap staff to deliver fun and engaging Parkride sessions.
