Work Experience and Volunteering Opportunities Opportunities for young people

These opportunities provide a bridge between classroom learning and real-world application, allowing students to test their skills, explore career options and develop confidence in professional settings. In the sports industry, volunteering and work placements offer a unique chance to gain hands-on experience, build transferable skills, make professional connections and enhance employability by demonstrating commitment, initiative and practical competence to future employers. They will also contribute to their local community – supporting health, inclusion and wellbeing through sport.

Skills 360 Training and leadership skills

Developing leadership skills can be a key step that takes students from good to great. Leadership can be broken down into transferable skills and leadership, but it can often be tricky to explain to students how the components of these are developed and build upon over time, supporting students through education and into their next steps on their path. Skills360 provides students with a blended learning experience, combining online resources with practical workshops to build these skills. Sports, art and culture are powerful tools for helping young people recognise and apply their strengths in real-world experiences.

Education settings can partner with us to integrate Skills360 into the student experience, enhancing both personal development and career readiness. To explore how your setting can get involved, please contact Ben Gutteridge, Sport Birmingham People and Skills Development Officer: ben.gutteridge@sportbirmingham.org
