Centenary Celebrations for Erdington Court Bowls Club

Erdington Court Bowls club celebrated it’s hundredth anniversary this month.  Amongst the special guests were Deepak Tanna who is Senior Vice President of Bowls England – Deepak was the first Indian President of Bowls England and prominent in moves to make the sport more diverse and inclusive.  Fellow Bowls England club members from across the country attended.

The day started off with a game of ‘spider’, a fun (and somewhat chaotic!) game where the whole club bowled towards a single central jack in the hope that theirs was the closest. The day featured a host of inter club bowling matches followed of course by drinks and nibbles!

There is a special exhibition within the newly refurbished club house, which includes a range of articles and exhibits from the club’s fascinating history including a set of antique bowls.  For more information on the club’s history, check out this special centenary Facebook video here.

The club is proud to be delivering a range of Bowl for Health sessions, which include sessions for young people, people with special educational needs and disabilities, and people with Parkinson’s. The club has a superb range of specialist equipment to enable and enhance participation for people with health conditions and disabilities.

Erdington Court Bowling Club are eager to welcome new members from diverse communities across the city, and offer a welcoming and inclusive environment.  Bowling is a wonderful sociable game for all ages and abilities.
