The Fund aims to help;

People living in Birmingham and the Black Country who face some form of disadvantage or social exclusion.

Grants can be made for projects that meet one or more of the following criteria:

• Promote health and wellbeing
• Tackle disadvantage
• Support local solutions to meet local needs
• Promote community cohesion
• Develop sustainable & supportive communities

This programme is intended to support smaller groups, with income less than £250,000.

This programme incorporates the following funds:

• Jobson James Grassroots Endowment Fund
• The Heatherlea Grassroots Fund
• Clarke Wilmott Grassroots Fund
• Connie Watts Fund
• Charles Henry Foyle Grassroots Fund
• Birmingham 100 Club – Endowment Fund
• Rider Levett Bucknall Grassroots Fund
• 3g comms Ltd Fund
• Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra

Sorry, we cannot fund;

 Direct replacement of statutory obligation and public funding

 Promotion of religious or political activities

 Groups with significant financial free reserves

 Retrospective grants

 Contribution to endowment fund, payment of deficit funding or repayment of loans

 National charities

 Overseas travel or expeditions

 Medical research and equipment for statutory or private healthcare

 General appeals

 Animal welfare, unless the project benefits people (e.g. disabled riding schemes)

 Statutory work in educational institutions

 Sponsored or fundraising events or groups raising funds to distribute to other causes Organisational income (in the last financial year) must be less than £250,000. Don't worry if you are not a registered charity; However, what you are doing must be charitable and you must have some kind of constitution or rules to govern the operation of your organisation. Priority will be given to organisations which show participant financial contribution to projects/activities, where appropriate. Grants can be made for a wide range of purposes.

For example:

 Start-up costs for new organisations or projects

 Extension and development of existing projects

 Pilot projects (to gather research and evidence)

 The purchase of equipment and resources

The maximum grant available is £2000 and the activities should be completed within one year.
